Freezing, falling and forgetting – why America is governed by
its oldest politicians ever
Senator Mitch McConnell's awkward press conference has highlighted
the age issue at the heart of US politics
. . .
Umm .. maybe a big PART of it is because we KNOW
what the younger generations are LIKE ?
We will stick with those nearest "The Greatest" for
as long as we can. Judging by the results in other
countries, their ultimate replacements = DOOM. Back
to the Dark Ages on a greased slide pretty much .....
Think Gen-Z gives a SHIT ? Think it's gonna preserve
you ? Save you ? Hold things together ???
I fear the Great Democratic Experiment may have reached
its ignominious end. Republics were seen as a "fix" to
the serious flaws of classical "pure democracy". Alas
it was less of a 'fix' than a 'delay'. Same problems
creep in. Republics buy you some time to come up with
something better - but nobody did.
From leftist "free money" to rightist "ultra-nationalism",
republics are a sort of positive-feedback mechanism which
keeps amplifying the stupid stuff until it's "banging
the rails" (electronics term) and there's little sanity
remaining in the middle. No more sense, no more statesmen,
no more 'vision' beyond campaign donations and fooling
the most people most of the time.
Humans can BUILD vast complex societies - but seem to
have a lot of trouble KEEPING them. Where's Akkadia
and Sumer, where's Assyria and Egypt, where's Babylon
and Rome, where are the Inca and Olmecs, where's the
British Empire, imperial China, USSR ??? All GONE,
imploded. Bad politics/economics and public ignorance/apathy
and political ambition destroyed them. The 'vision' could
not hold.
Then it's back to Huns and the Golden Horde ...
It's a problem.
